Normalize epidermal cell turnover, eliminate greasy crusts and flaking dandruff, and neutralize foul rancid skin odors with Virbac Sebolytic Medicated Shampoo (200ml), available online at VetMitra. Keratoseborrheic disorders represent some of the most persistent clinical challenges in companion animal dermatology. Whether triggered by primary genetic defects (common in Cocker Spaniels, Bassets, Westies, and Golden Retrievers) or secondary to allergic dermatitis, endocrine imbalances (hypothyroidism), or ectoparasites, affected pets experience abnormal stratum corneum keratinization and sebaceous gland hyperactivity. The skin becomes coated with greasy, foul-smelling sebum (seborrhea oleosa) or sheds thick, dry, adherent scales (seborrhea sicca), creating a fertile breeding ground for secondary yeast and bacterial proliferation. Virbac Sebolytic addresses keratoseborrhea through targeted, multi-action dermatological synergy: Keratolytic & Keratoplastic Exfoliation (Sodium Salicylate / Salicylic Acid): Lowers stratum corneum pH, increasing corneal cell hydration and dissolving the intercellular protein cement binding hyperkeratotic squames. This breaks down adherent scales, lifts dry dandruff, and normalizes epithelial desquamation. Sebo-Regulating Matrix (Zinc Gluconate & Pyridoxine HCl / Vitamin B6): Zinc Gluconate and Vitamin B6 act synergistically at the follicular level to regulate and downregulate hyperactive sebaceous gland secretions, restoring a balanced cutaneous lipid profile and controlling oily coats. Neutralizes Rancid Seborrheic Odors: Keratoseborrheic coats emit a distinct, rancid, greasy odor caused by oxidized sebum fatty acids. Sebolytic's degreasing action removes rancid lipids, deodorizing the pet on contact. Soothes Cutaneous Erythema & Pruritus: Formulated with mild, soap-free cleansers and anti-irritant humectants that soothe itching and cool burning, inflamed skin without stripping natural barrier moisture. Dual-Species Safety: Formulated with high feline tolerability—safe for both dogs and cats suffering from greasy stud tail, feline chin acne, or generalized canine seborrhea.
