Description

Rebuild your dog's damaged epidermal shield, reduce moisture loss, and soothe chronic allergic itching at the source with Virbac Allerderm Spot-On Skin Lipid Complex, available online at VetMitra. In canine dermatological health, the stratum corneum functions like a protective "brick and mortar" wall: skin cells (corneocytes) represent the bricks, while intercellular lipid lamellae act as the mortar. Dogs suffering from atopic dermatitis, flea allergies, or chronic keratoseborrhea have a genetic or acquired deficiency in essential skin lipids—particularly ceramides. When this protective lipid mortar breaks down: Microscopic cracks open across the epidermis. Vital hydration escapes rapidly via Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL), leaving skin dry, scaly, and hyper-reactive. Environmental triggers (dust mites, tree pollens, mold spores, bacteria) easily penetrate the barrier, triggering mast cell degranulation, intense pruritus, and chronic self-trauma. Virbac Allerderm Spot-On repairs this barrier from the outside in: Patented Bio-Identical Skin Lipid Complex (SLC): Supplies a balanced physiological ratio of ceramides (Ceramide 1, Ceramide 3, Ceramide 6-II), cholesterol, and essential free fatty acids identical to those found in healthy canine skin. Rapid Dermal Diffusion: Formulated as a lightweight, non-greasy emulsion that spreads rapidly through the superficial sebum and intercellular lipid matrix, directly integrating into depleted epidermal layers. Locks in Hydration & Blocks Allergens: Re-establishes the intercellular barrier, reducing TEWL, restoring cutaneous elasticity, and preventing pollen and bacterial allergens from penetrating the skin. Steroid-Sparing Action: By addressing the underlying structural defect of allergic skin rather than just masking symptoms, regular use reduces the pet's reliance on systemic anti-pruritic medications (such as steroids or immunosuppressants). Easy Spot-On Administration: Applied directly along the spine or between the shoulder blades, eliminating the need for daily messy creams, sprays, or frequent stressful baths.
