Description

Eradicate stubborn ringworm lesions, resolve greasy yeast dermatitis, and cure deep systemic fungal infections with Intas Izopet Oral Solution (100ml), available online at VetMitra. Fungal dermatophytosis (ringworm) and Malassezia yeast overgrowths represent some of the most persistent, highly contagious, and zoonotic dermatological challenges in companion animal practice. In multi-pet households, catteries, and humid tropical climates across India, fungal spores (Microsporum canis, Trichophyton) readily invade keratinized hair shafts and stratum corneum layers, causing expanding circular alopecic patches, crusting, and secondary bacterial infections. While topical medicated baths provide valuable surface decontamination, deep follicular fungal hyphae and generalized dermatophytosis require potent systemic therapy. Traditional older antifungals like ketoconazole or griseofulvin carry substantial risks of severe hepatotoxicity, gastrointestinal intolerance, and feline bone marrow suppression. Intas Izopet delivers modern, targeted triazole antimycotic efficacy: Selective Fungal Ergosterol Depletion (Itraconazole IP 10mg/ml): A synthetic third-generation triazole derivative that selectively binds to and inhibits fungal cytochrome P450 14α-demethylase (CYP51). This enzymatic blockade halts the conversion of lanosterol into ergosterol—the vital structural sterol of the fungal cell membrane. The resulting accumulation of toxic methylated sterols disrupts membrane fluidity, increases permeability, causes cellular leakage, and arrests fungal hyphal replication. Keratinophilic & Lipophilic Tissue Affinity: Displays intense affinity for lipids and keratinized tissues (epidermis, hair follicles, claws). It rapidly incorporates into growing hair shafts and cutaneous sebum, building a prolonged therapeutic tissue reservoir that persists in the skin for weeks even after daily dosing ceases. Optimized Oral Bioavailability: Unlike generic human itraconazole capsules containing uncrushable micro-pellets that cannot be divided for small pets, Izopet's homogeneous liquid solution ensures rapid gastric dispersion, consistent systemic absorption, and precise milliliter titration. Gold-Standard Feline Safety & Pulse Dosing: Widely recognized as the first-line systemic antifungal of choice for cats and kittens due to its superior safety profile over older azoles. Enables flexible veterinary weekly pulse-dosing protocols (e.g., alternating weeks on/off) that minimize medication exposure while maintaining complete antimycotic efficacy. Dual-Species Clinical Utility: Approved and well-tolerated across both canine and feline patients under direct veterinary prescription.
